Online Reputation

Online Reputation is now one of the MOST important things to consider because nowadays 80% of the people are basing their thoughts through internet, sometimes HR who hires employees check your background through internet. here are some thoughts to consider in developing online reputation consider how your personal or company brand should be perceived. What is your brand identity / what is your value proposition / selling point / unique voice? Once you have developed the image you would like your constituencies to perceive, develop a strategy to build your brand. Are you seeking credibility in the marketplace (consider blogging), gain market leadership (create innovative tools for your industry) or connection (build a network of contacts in professional and/or social sites). in order to have a good online reputation you must have contacts to become your references in case someone needs proof of your good character.

An online reputation is the perception that one has on the Internet based on their digital footprint. Digital footprints accumulate through all of the content shared, feedback provided and information that created online. People aspire to have a positive online reputation. If someone has a bad online reputation, he can easily change his pseudonym. This is why new accounts on ebay or amazon are usually untrusted. If a person or a company want to manage his web reputation, he will have many more difficulties. This is why a merchant on the web having a physical shop (with real name, real address) is usually more trusted. putting your real name makes you more interesting because if you do something wrong you have your name and data at stake.

Online reputation is a factor in any online community where trust is important. It affects a pseudonym rather than a person. Examples include eBay, an auction service which uses a system of customer feedback to publicly rate each member's reputation. Amazon.com has a similar reputation mechanism in place and merchants develop their reputations across different dimensions. One study found that a good reputation added 7.6% to the price received.

nowadays, Online Reputation Management has been discovered to help people maintain a good character not only in real life but also in the internet world here is an part of the article on wikipedia "ORM(Online Reputation Management) is a relatively new industry but has been brought to the forefront of professionals’ consciousness due to the overwhelming and many times unpredictable nature of both professional journalistic content and amateur user-generated content (or UGC), the latter of which there is far more, and not the least because of the wide number websites that offer such an opportunity to visitors, typically with very low barriers to entry--often just by creating a screen name, registering one's birthday and a geographical location, and providing a valid email address to complete the account-creation process. Thus, the type of online content monitored in ORM spans professional, journalism sponsored by traditional news and media giants as well as user-created and user-generated blogs, ratings, reviews, and comments, and all manner of specialized websites about any particular subject, be it a person, group, company, business, product, event, concept, or trend." its true that if you have a good online reputation online you can get good online traders that can give you good items if you continue to be trustworthy and sincere at all times.

i can relate online reputation to boys courting girls, because of course at first boys will text girls and invite them through facebook, friendster, etc. and the girls will check the boy's pictures, comments, etc. if she finds something negative in it she might get turned off. same as in the business industry when you add someone to your facebook or friendster and is business related you must take care because he/she might check or find negative things in your account which may result to you looking negative to your business partner.

Online reputation is now something to consider because we are going through globalization and modernization, resume and bio data is not enough for applying you must have a good character online and physically because even though things that are online are only words they can affect you the biggest specially when your manager believes in it. make sure to be a good member in every social networking site that you register to because if you go negative with someone he might do everything just to make you look negative online.

I do everything to keep my name clean online and in real life because I believe that with a good character and a good online reputation people will gain trust in me and they will give me good opportunities which will be a big help for me in the future. online reputation is a factor that must be GREATLY considered in the business industry because selling through internet is now becoming more popular.
